Serene Silhouettes: Watercolor Wash Technique

I love the simplicity of this card, which was inspired by a swap I received from my friend Karla Endris. The technique is so colorful and eye-catching, yet simple. I whipped up some to send for Thank You notes last month. If you received one -- thanks again!! I need to come up with a new design for December thank yous and get started on those ASAP!

Here's how to do the Watercolor Wash Technique:
  1. Use a watercolor paintbrush or the Aquapainter and pick up ink color from the inside lid of an ink pad. (Push down on the closed lid to pool the ink in the lid.)
  2. Brush the color over neutral cardstock.
  3. Rinse the brush. (I squeeze a little water from the Aquapainter and dab it on a paper towel.)
  4. Repeat with coordinating colors.
  5. Allow cardtstock to dry. Stamp image over watercolored paper using a dark color such as Basic Gray or Staz-On ink.
On this card, I used Summer Starfruit, Calypso Coral, and Baja Breeze. And because I was making so many cards, I actually put a couple drops of reinker inside the Aquapainter with the water!
